Summer Course for Teenagers

TSAS is a certificate program where one will be systematically trained to learn the techniques of performing as well in Putonghua. This course integrates the various aspects of scenography and directing into an ¡¥organic research' composite, thus enabling the student to understand and impart the knowledge of Drama in its entirety. It is a truly insightful and empowering course designed not only to impart techniques of teaching Drama in Putongua but also to facilitate the learner to begin his/her own journey of self-awareness and development.

STRUCTURE OF TSAS

This is not a formal theatre training workshop. This advance acting class is target for 12 to 18-year-old students to further their knowledge of acting and learn new exercises and techniques useful in the classroom.

This intensive 18 hours advance course that lasts for 2 weeks will take you through the interesting process of acting in Putonghua. You could shape up your Putonghua communication skills while learning all the basics of scripting, acting and directing for a theatre production. At the end of the course, you will have your first putonghua skit. Students will be awarded a certificate of attendance once completed the course.

Instructor: Jeffrey Low (Singapore)

Jeffrey Low is a versatile bilingual actor who is actively involved in cross-cultural, cross-language, cross-media (theater, TV, radio broadcasting, hosting, voice over) performances.  In his formative years, he had the privilege of receiving Kuo Pao Kun's mentorship in understudying him that enables him to incorporate rich cross-cultural elements into his future works. Trained in Practice Performing Arts School (TTRP) from January 2001 to January 2002, his extensive exposure through multilingual, multi-cultural theatrical studies and approach sees him in crossing over to various performance arts formats like musicals, short plays, dramas and even producing successfully.

In recent years, his involvement in cross-country performance trips in countries such as USA , Japan , China , Hong Kong , Macau , Indonesia , Taiwan and Korea adds cultural insights and rich sources of inspirations which further developed his strengths in showmanship. Besides, Jeffrey has also proven to be a versatile actor with great voice and body expressions. Jeffrey also adds voice over and dubbing / narrating projects to his multi-faceted talents.
