Playwright - Abby Mann When Mann received the 34th Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, he said: "A writer worth his salt at all has an obligation not only to entertain but to comment on the world in which he lives." He was best known for his work on controversial subjects and social drama. Orginally written for television in 1959, "Judgment at Nuremberg", the film was directed Stanley Kramer, starring Spencer Tracy, Burt Lancaster, Richard Widmark, Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Maximillian Schell, etc. The film was inspired by the Judges' Trail before the U.S. Nuremberg Military Tribunal in 1947. The movie won several awards, including the Academy Awards for Best Actor and Best Writing. |
