Sai Fung 1959

“Bruce Lee : Kung Fu‧Art‧Life” Exhibition x Drama Multi-arts Programme Series

Original Musical, Site Specific Performance

“Because we don’t know when we will die,
we tend to think of life as an inexhaustible well.
How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon
that’s so deeply a part of your being that you can’t even conceive of your life without it?”

Eighteen-year-old Sai Fung (meaning tiny phoenix) was rebellious and outspoken, and loved to fight, but he also loved to dance the cha cha. In 1959, the day before he left for the United States, he decided to make his last 24 hours in Hong Kong special. He met with his friends, had his last fight, had a deep talk with his father for the first time, had a last lesson from his teacher, and had a brief, but unforgettable love encounter. Then, confused and upset, he embarked on a journey to another world and another life, the beginning of a legend.
